Individual Scholarship Descriptions

Chancellor's Scholarship
Named in honor of the Chancellor of the University, this award, in addition to the general requirements established for scholarship applicants, has the following requirements:

  1. The scholarship applicant may be from any state.
  2. This scholarship will be awarded to a student from a segment of the population that is underrepresented in the osteopathic medical profession as compared to the percent of general population of the US. (As established by the last official census.)
  3. The applicant must demonstrate academic excellence.
  4. The recipient must be committed to practice in an underserved area of the state of Colorado, the Mountain West or the Great Plains States for a period of not less than 5 years. (As established by MSA data published by National Committee on Vital Health Statistics or HRSA).

Board of Trustee's Scholarship
Named in honor of the Board of Trustees for Rocky Vista University, this award, in addition to the general requirements established for scholarship applicants, has the following requirements:

  1. The applicant must be a legal Colorado resident at the time of application.
  2. This scholarship will be awarded to a student from a segment of the population that is underrepresented in the osteopathic medical profession as compared to the percent of general population of the US. (As established by the last official census.)
  3. The applicant must demonstrate economic need. For 2008, the applicant (or applicant's parents) will be considered economically disadvantaged if their average income for the last 3 years is less than 250 percent of Federal Poverty Level.
  4. The recipient must be committed to practice in an underserved area of the state of Colorado for a period of not less than 5 years. (As established by MSA data published by National Committee on Vital Health Statistics or HRSA.)

Dean's Scholarship
Named in honor of the Dean of the College of Osteopathic Medicine, this award, in addition to the general requirements established for scholarship applicants, has the following requirements:

  1. The applicant must be from Colorado, the Mountain West or the Great Plains States.
  2. The applicant must demonstrate economic need. For 2008, the applicant (or applicant's parents) will be considered economically disadvantaged if their average income for the last 3 years is less than 250 percent of Federal Poverty Level.
  3. The applicant's established home town must be a MSA that is underserved as established by the National Committee on Vital Health and Statistics for HRSA.
  4. The recipient must be committed to practice in an underserved area of the state of Colorado for a period of not less than 5 years. (As established by MSA data published by National Committee on Vital Health Statistics or HRSA.)
