Robyn R. Weyand, Ph.D.

Professor of Behavioral Medicine

Dr. Weyand earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Special Education from the University of Northern Colorado (UNC) in Greeley, Colorado; a Master of Arts degree in Communication and Debate, also from UNC; and a doctorate in Communication and Rhetoric from Pennsylvania State University.

Dr. Weyand has spent the past three decades in academic medicine, primarily osteopathic medicine. She currently serves as the Director of Research and Development. Prior to this appointment, she served for more than a decade as the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs at Pikeville College School of Osteopathic Medicine (PCSOM), in eastern Kentucky. She has also held positions at the University of Health Sciences (UHS) in Kansas City, Missouri and the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCSOM) in Pennsylania. In each of these positions she has been active In developing, directing, and evaluating externally sponsored projects.

Dr. Weyand has served as a peer reviewer, or as a chairperson of peer review panels, for more than 25 years. Her experience with assessing grant applications for federal projects includes participating on reviews for The National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA).

Dr. Weyand’s teaching experience is in the field of behavioral medicine, and includes serving as the Course Director for Medical Ethics and Medical Jurisprudence at both PCOM and UHS. While at PCSOM, she these courses as well as the 2nd year Psychiatry course. She also directed, and taught, the two year Community and Behavioral Medicine course at PCSOM for ten years. While in Kentucky, she received an Outstanding Faculty award and an Outstanding Administrative (Student) Advocate award.
