
Frank Ritchel Ames, Ph.D.
Director of Library Services
Dr. Ames directs the Rocky Vista University Health Sciences Library and assists in teaching medical ethics. He is a graduate of the University of Denver with a Master of Arts in Library Science; Denver Seminary with a Master of Divinity (with Honors); and the Joint Doctoral Program of the University of Denver and Iliff School of Theology, with a Ph.D. in Religious Studies. He has served as University Librarian and as Professor of Religious Studies at Colorado Christian University, and as the Society of Biblical Literature’s Director of Programs and Initiatives, Interim Editorial Director, and Editor of SBL Forum.
Dr. Ames is a member of the Medical Library Association, Colorado Council of Medical Librarians, Council of Osteopathic Librarians, Society of Biblical Literature, and American Academy of Religion. He pursues interdisciplinary research and is presently studying the effects of forced migration on families and the intersection of health, information, and values. He has contributed articles to the Encyclopedia of Protestantism and New International Dictionary of Old Testament Theology and Exegesis. Dr. Ames reviews books for the American Library Association’s Choice: Current Reviews for Academic Libraries, and is co-editor (with Brad Kelle) of the forthcoming SBL/Brill publication, Writing and Reading War: Rhetoric, Gender, and Ethics in Biblical and Modern Contexts.
