Department of Research and Development

Rocky Vista University Department of Research and Development, led by Robyn Weyand, Ph.D., is challenged to meet two demands common to colleges of medicine and higher learning, and vital to the mission, vision and values expressed by the College and University. The department is the cornerstone for research activities for the college. RVUCOM includes in its mission and vision, the expansion of medical and educational knowledge for the advancement of the health of our citizens as well as improvements in educational design and delivery.

Dr. Weyand and her staff provide support and assistance for the development and management of research projects and grants for the both full-time and clinical faculty, and the students of the college. In addition, the department is charged with providing foundational education in research methodology, development and grants for the students of the college, both formally in a classroom setting, and informally by providing mentorship and assistance for student projects.

The department is also involved with development and professional advancement of the faculty of RVUCOM by:

  • Providing individual assistance as needed
  • Providing a structured series of modules designed to advance the knowledge and skills of the faculty in areas that include but are not limited to:
    • programs designed to advance skills as facilitators and teachers
    • methods for evaluation of students including the construction of tests and writing of test questions
    • techniques to improve the individual's communication and interaction skills

Faculty advancement is a key component of the mission and vision of the University.
