  • RVUCOM strives to recruit and educate individuals committed to becoming physicians to meet the needs of the wide diversity of patients they will encounter in our Colorado residents and who will be equipped to adapt to the demands of a changing health care system throughout their professional careers.
  • RVUCOM has new and spacious facilities along with the faculty, physical and intellectual resources required to deliver a state-of-the-art medical education to its students in a positive personal and educational environment at our campus in Parker, Colorado.
  • RVUCOM is committed to providing the resources and support required for research and scholarly activity to align its mission with the needs of our communities.
  • RVUCOM has developed the community partnerships that will ensure the affiliated clinical sites and faculty resources needed for the education of its students within the state of Colorado. The students’ core clinical education will be conducted under the supervision and guidance of college appointed faculty, ensuring students the maximum opportunity to acquire the foundation of knowledge, skills and competencies required to be prepared and competitive for entry into any graduate medical education program.

Ronnie B. Martin, D.O., FACOFP-dist.

The Chief Academic Officer and Dean for the College of Osteopathic Medicine is Ronnie B. Martin, D.O., FACOFP-dist.
Dr. Martin, a board-certified osteopathic family physician, is a 1974 graduate of Southwestern Oklahoma University College of Pharmacy and a 1979 graduate of the Oklahoma State University of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery. He completed his post graduate training through the Rural Consortium of Enid Regional Hospital and the Tulsa Regional Hospital.


Dr. Martin practiced family medicine and was engaged in the clinical education of medical students and graduates in both Enid and Tulsa, Oklahoma from 1980 until leaving active practice in 1999 to pursue a full-time career dedicated to medical education. After serving as Chairman of the Department of Family Practice at Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine from 1999 to 2001, he became Chairman of the Department of Family Medicine at Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida in 2001.  In 2003, he was promoted to the position of Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Dr. Martin was installed as the president of the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians (ACOFP) during its 45th Annual Convention & Exhibition in Denver, Colorado on March 12, 2008.

Message from the Dean

Welcome to Rocky Vista University College of Osteopathic Medicine. and thank you for visiting our university and college through this Web site.

The board of directors, administration, faculty and staff  are excited and optimistic about our development, evolution, maturation and future. We welcome all who share our vision and agree with our mission to join us as we move forward toward making a difference in the lives of our students, faculty and the citizens of our state, region and nation.

Currently the college has obtained the recognition and accreditation required by the United States Department of Education, The Colorado Commission on Higher Education and the Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation , an affiliate of the American Osteopathic Association, to operate as a college of osteopathic medicine, admit students and offer education leading to the degree, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine. The college has begun recruiting and accepting students this fall, 2007 and anticipates matriculating its first class of students in August of 2008.

The faculty and staff of Rocky Vista University College of Osteopathic Medicine are committed to osteopathic philosophy and heritage and to advancing the science and the art of the practice of osteopathic medicine. We feel that in doing so, we can best serve the needs of our students and the patients they will care for throughout their professional careers.

We are dedicated to recruiting and providing an osteopathic medical education for students from Colorado and the Mountain West Region. We welcome students from across the country to join us in our efforts toward increasing the number of physicians in Colorado and the Mountain West Region.

The college is committed to producing not only competent but also professional, ethical, compassionate physicians who are holistic in scope and philosophy.

At this stage in our development, our campus is largely concrete and steel. However, I promise you it will be beautiful and functional when completed in the summer of 2008.
