How to Apply

Students must complete the Rocky Vista University Institutional Financial Aid Application if they wish to apply for loans or RVU scholarships. Students must apply for financial aid each academic year.

It is not necessary to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to apply for financial aid at RVU for the 2008-2009 year. If you need a FAFSA computation in order to apply for a specific scholarship or grant, please contact the RVU Office of Financial Aid.

Students may apply for alternative education loans from any lender they choose. Please be sure that your lender provides the RVU Office of Financial Aid with the necessary information in order to process your loan in a timely manner. The RVU Office of Financial Aid will certify your loan when requested to do so by your lender. You can find more information about alternative educational loans by accessing the Loans link. Contact the Office of Financial Aid if you have specific questions regarding alternative loan programs or procedures.

RVUCOM will also award several scholarships each year. If you wish to apply for a scholarship you must complete a separate scholarship application. Submit a completed Rocky Vista University Scholarship Application as well as all required supporting documentation no later than June 1, 2008. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered. You will find more information about each of our scholarships by accessing the Scholarship link.

Eligibility for financial aid is based on a student's financial need. Your financial need is defined as the difference between the Cost of Attendance (COA) and your Expected Family Contribution (EFC.) An EFC is based upon the information students provide on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and is calculated using a federal formula for aid eligibility. Note that completion of a FAFSA is not required for alternative or private loans, nor for most scholarships. RVU does not require students to submit a FAFSA.

The Office of Financial Aid determines the Cost of Attendance (COA) based on the costs of a typical RVU student living in this geographic area. The COA includes not only tuition, fees, books and supplies, but also living expenses, transportation and miscellaneous costs. The total financial aid a student may receive for the year cannot exceed the COA.

Projected Cost of Attendance budgets for 2008-2009 will be posted on My Vista or are available from the RVU Office of Financial Aid.
