Advancing Education

Advancing education

The education of a medical student is an active process that requires the guidance and assistance of educated professors and clinicians. However, it also requires the input and assistance of many others as well. Family members provide guidance and support, friends and personal counselors assist with encouragement and emotional support, and the support of peers and other professionals is essential to success.

Members of the public make significant contributions in numerous ways as well. Seeking medical care at the clinics associated and affiliated with the University not only provides the opportunity for scientifically-based quality health care for the patient, it provides the opportunity for clinical education for the student and resident.

Many individuals choose to serve as standardized patients and teaching associates for the College of the University, directly interacting with these future professionals and shaping their education in an environment that fosters both learning and patient safety.

Professionals in business, law, the clergy and other fields contribute directly to the education of students with expertise and contributions not available within the faculty of the College of Osteopathic Medicine.

For generations, concerned patients have contributed funds in addition to time, and expertise to support medical schools and medical students. Endowed scholarships, contributions for the purchase of equipment and supplies augment the college and allow tuition to be held in check and are appreciated by all members of the university community.

Some patients also choose to donate his or her body after death to advance medical knowledge and the health of others by supporting the education of tomorrows healers.

Rocky Vista University College of Osteopathic Medicine has reached out to embrace its community, and is thankful that the community has responded in kind.
